Sw20 Mr2 Electric Power Steering Pump (New Oem Toyota) –
I'm watching to see what he reports on the power steering pump. The P. ECU is disabled when this wire is brought low (grounded). The one question I have not found a answer to is has anyone out there been able to find a way to control the pump pressure relative to speed? They were taken with my iPhone. I am not currently running an oil cooler. If you are not mechanically or electrically competent, then this swap is not for you. I have tried the vehicle at race speed, it works, and I am completely happy with the results. Otherwise, you are right.. it would be power one way steering all of the time. I would like to install a 2001 Toyota MR2 electric Hydraulic Steering Pump. I ran high pressure line to the pump, and also used the port and ran a line to reservoir.

Next thing was the return from the rack that goes to the top of the reservoir. I think it would be cooler having the steering completely seperate from the engine, and nice to be able to turn it off whenever i wanted. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options... While the current draw of the pump is fairly low at idle (only a few amps), turn the wheels lock to lock and you will see the real story. The pump suction side used a hose fitting which was identical size to the Honda fluid reservoir, so no problem finding some hydraulic low pressure hose for the Pump to the reservoir. His latest build he's using a mini cooper electric power steering pump. This is a temporary location until I can fund a new P/S cooler. To the best of my knowledge you are looking for 2000-2005 ( maybe some other years, I'm not sure) EHPS pump from Toyota MR2 Spyder, call your local junk yards or check this one online. The steering was fairly too light for my liking at first but I have adjusted to it. Thats what you see in some of the pics, some of the parts that I have not painted black yet and they look yellow or brown. If you successful combat that, it's a great swap.

I've used both an electric pump and an electric column. I used A -6 Male to 16mm x 1. Location: Yonkers N. Y. In his first two test sessions he didn't report anything negative about the power steering. Something I do not want.

This is the tricky area of doing this. Hydraulic Pump from an MR2. Other than that, im loving my setup. This part will be mounted to the body on the part that goes around the radiator. If anyone has any insight into electric power steering pumps or electric hydraulic pumps in general please let me know as any information I can gather the better. Use with the Alaria Tech bracket for easy mounting. We used 8 gauge wires with an 80 amp circuit breaker. I will say now that you do not get any performance gain out of this. The electric column lets you drop everything under the hood entirely, but isn't always easy to fit either. Select a store to see pricing & availability. I found a guy who did the same setup on his jeep and he made a nice little diagram to go off of. The only reason why it crossed my mind is that on my Ford focus the steering has 3 settings, Comfort, Normal and Sport. I mounted it in the trunk for weight distribution reasons. My Hydraulic pump was from a slightly different year so it had only 3 sensor wires. My final thoughts on the outcome. Here you can see where I mounted the reservoir. However, with a B series engine, the right side will be better. We've also added the option of including a 2-pin Anderson connector kit if needed. It uses the sensors in the pump to tell you when the brushes are worn or overheated. This is really popular for them. I figure I will probably be seeing around 800# up front which will obviously determine my steering choices.
