The soundtrack made a brief appearance in 1997 on cd and is now OOP and very expensive. We make that challenge not to say that ours is so great but to say everything else that is available is unwatchable. That's how it was filmed and how the Director wanted it to look but any further compression to try to put this on DVD would have been unforgivable and we'd be no better that the guys that are selling this with such bad quality.

Contact: I think that it's wide of the mark calling this film "cynical" seeing as the novel was based on the life and death of Roseann Quinn in 1973 and from what I have read about that case, the film is a pretty close approximation of Quinn's off-kilter life and grisly murder. Looking For Mr. Goodbar 1977 DVD is an excellent and dark film. Yeah, Richard Gere and Tom Berenger both launched out of this film, and neither have yet managed to make very many films to rival this one. But it is a way to buy the widescreen version.
