We also know that reading to a child or listening to a child read is a wonderful way to create a unique and special bond together. We're hoping for 100% participation.

Blast From The Past Book
Today, our students learned about the Book Blast Program, literacy, and the importance of having their own books at home. This building served as a meeting place for the community as well as a social center where dances and celebrations were held--not unlike the current building. Books are Fun provided incentives for the students to encourage them to send emails to family and friends requesting donations. This guaranteed each of NJES' 600-plus students received at least three brand new, age-appropriate books to take home! Congratulations to all of our scholars who received awards during yesterday's End-of-Year Awards Assembly. We look forward to welcoming them back in August!
Blast Really Great Reading
Mohawk is so very proud of you; keep #ElevatingExcellence! Parents and grandparents are encouraged to attend. These students will be missed tremendously at Mohawk next year, but we wish them the best as they begin a new journey in 4th grade at Barack Obama School. Here at Jefferson, our staff, parents, and students know the importance of reading. It will take you less than 15 minutes and there is NO financial requirement for you. From November 1st through December 9th, ARIS students collected cans to be donated to the Millbrook WELCOME center. An additional $100 Book Blast shopping spree will be awarded to the student with the highest dollar amount of contributions in the school; so, all hands on deck!
