I wanted to like this one, but unfortunately I found it incredibly confusing in its metaphorical, poetic language (which is usually my jam, but this writing felt more like a foreign language). It was designed to resonate with potential readers but triggered speculation and confusion.
I loved Sam as a narrator. She finally stole everything. I feel like we got so much more depth when it comes to the other characters and Sam was slightly forgotten as he was the narrator. At the same time, because lack of sexual attraction is so frequently linked to lack of favorable feelings about having sex, asexual-sexual relationships often pose challenges. Within the first few pages you'll be thinking of them as old friends, which is a gift that is all too rare. Then I realized: it's all so *quotable*.
