What a rollercoster story with so many emotional trigger life changing episodes: anxiety from nearly loosing a sibling/ being forgotten by parents so absorbed by the sick child. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this digital ARC. Can't recommend this book enough! For the love of you lover. The characters are flawed filled with a lot of vulnerabilities. We all have that true love that may have gotten away. We get flashbacks of her and Ben's time together in college. I was cheering for them to work through their issues and fall apart at the very same time.

But is it too late to fix what happened? "The one that got away" was not quite what I expected, which is not at all a bad thing. They only get together closer to the end but by then we are so connected with each one of the MCs individually that we can't put the book down. This was a beautiful and emotional story that dealt with some very heavy topics.

For some your first love is forever and those people know no one else. However, I still really wanted to see what happened to these characters. It really reminds me a bit on "One Day", although it's probably a misleading opinion. I love a second chance love story - I'm married to the one that got away. On the other hand, Benjamin has to work hard to create opportunities for himself-all while he faces pressure from his father to make something of himself. 20 years later, an explosion is reported in the city where Clara and Ben met, and she is pulled back to a place she tries not to remember and the first love she could never forget. I love a book that is told from two points of view and is telling the story over a period of years.

I found this book very compelling and hard to put down. I will also add that this story is more of a drama and I found it could have done with little more intrigue and suspense in parts, I did however also throughly enjoy the jumps between timelines and how it all came together in the end in a way reflective of real life! It deals with many heavy topics and touches on the complicated parts of what being in a relationship means. The story jumped back and forth between present day and the past which confused me at times, then there was a twist at the end but then the story ended, I would have liked to read more about the characters during present day and even in the future as it left me in limbo. 1x Savage Coast Blue Sailfin. Catch the World's Largest Mudfish and bring it to Old Man Barlo. Peir pressure to fit in. I don't really like predictable endings. Charlotte Rixon's The One That Got Away is a beautiful narrative between Benjamin and Clara. It talks about real issues and hard issues. Rushing to find a man she has not seen for 20 years when she hears of an explosion at a stadium she believes he would be in attendance at. I felt the story, for me, wasn't quite finished. Benjamin and Clara start dating in university and fall in love.

Read and reviewed in exchange for a free copy from NetGalley. Clara actually irritated me, both past and present versions but that is because she reminded me of me!!! Not your average romance, this book brings a lot of heart. Brilliantly layered, full of intrigue and with characters that kept me gripped until the end. This book has some major trigger warnings so definitely research before reading!
This book has moving timelines and jumps back and forth. Told from alternating time periods and alternating viewpoints, this novel does a nice job going back and forth between the present and the past. Then it all changes. My attention has been captured instantly. You'll find him in Dustwallow Marsh, on the coast southwest of Theramore Isle. What a fool to be so blind.
She's needy and petty and, while not exactly admirable, relatable nonetheless. Two decades later, Clara is at work when she hears of a bombing at a football game in the town where they fell in love. Clara and Benjamin are college students who met at a club and had a first love worthy of songs. This didn't feel like a romcom to me, it was more women's fiction. Release Date: Feb. 2nd 2023. The characters in this book are stunning. It goes from multiple time frames giving a history to shape the present of the main characters. Don't read it if: you want to avoid stories with triggers of sexual abuse and suicide bombing. CW/TW: Alcoholism, mention of drugs, sexual content, cancer, violence, prison and parent death. This was definitely not a light romance but it will still make you smile. Clara and Benjamin met at university. Nightcrawlers (requires Fishing 50). It follows two characters, Clara and Benjamin, who were together for two years before going their separate ways. It's quite good in my opinion. This book captured me from the beginning and went differently than I had expected, which was really refreshing for me. I loved the dual timeline and also the dual narrative. I read it in one sitting because I just needed to know what happened. To catch Mr. Pinchy, you're best bet is to use enough gear in order to reach an effective skill level of 527 in Fishing — the highest possible.
